Abstract:

NTT Network Service Systems Laboratories have demonstrated a large MPLS backbone network, which consists of tens of routers, and can operate up to 10,000 LSPs. This network provides very high reliability, multiple transfer quality classes, and high security with several MPLS technologies, which are LSP protection switching, MPLS diffserv, end-to-end bandwidth management servers and Layer 2 over MPLS. A car-rier-grade router called Type-X and QoS/Policy servers, are used to construct the net-work. Future plans include network extension for L2 tunneling services using LSP la-bel stack technology and half-million of L2 tunnels will be offered. These MPLS tech-nologies have been deployed into an intra IP network connecting thousands of termi-nals in NTT-East.
