Ms. Leymann studied computer science at the Technical University Berlin and used to work there in several projects which were related to ATM networks, multimedia conferencing and network management. She was also working for half a year at the Hewlett Packard Research Labs in Bristol, UK (focused on ATM network management).

She is currently working in her 8th year for T-Systems in the area of IP-Technologies and MPLS-Backbone design (Engineering Networks, Products & Services Packet based Carrier Transport Networks). This includes the integration of technologies - eg. IP-Multicast, VPLS etc. - in MPLS networks and VPN scenarios. Main focus are carrier grade backbones like the IP-Backbone of Deutsche Telekom. We are currently looking into possibilities to integrate IP-Multicast into the existing backbone based on L2 and L3 solutions (for Public Multicast as well as Multicast enabled VPNs).

During this work Ms. Leymann is responsible for several international related to IP-Multicast, MPLS, VPLS, Multipoints-Services, Backbone-Design and VPNs.

She is also involved in the standarization process for Multicast services in MPLS, GMPLS and VPN environments (mainly within the IETF) and is looking into new backbone technologies as well as optical transport technologies.
