5th Public Interoperability Demonstration

The 5th public interoperability demonstration will take place following the MPLS 2004 International conference on October 20th, 2004 at Isocore Internetworking lab. The main focus of the demo is to highlight the results of the Isocore Internetworking lab's closed door testing to the public - demonstrating the readiness of various features and new services offered through MPLS.

The main focus of the event is to demonstrate the current state of high-availability models for increasing the reliability of MPLS-enabled networks while offering different classes of services. This will be accomplished by enabling traffic engineering with differentiated services support (DS-TE) and high availability models for graceful restart and stateful failovers. For the first time in the industry, DS-TE aware MPLS traffic Engineering will be demonstrated with 8 Traffic Engineering classes and hierarchical MPLS label switched paths.

The demonstration will also provide attendees an opportunity to envision MPLS to GMPLS migration strategies and to experience how advanced MPLS-based Layer 2 and Layer 3 (supporting IPv6 customers) services can be enabled seamlessly across the GMPLS enabled optical core.

In addition, the demo will also showcase the ability of the MPLS devices to detect, handle, and diagnose control and data plane defects using LSP and service ping.
